Q&A with ReleasePoint CEO Derrick Halvey
Q: What is on your mind as we progress into 2026?
Derrick: AI is obviously weighing heavily on the minds of many business leaders. To some, it’s overhyped. To others, it’s an existential threat. I’m in the camp somewhere in the middle, but it’s certainly the elephant in every room…
Q: How do you expect AI to influence medical record retrieval, review, and decision-making?
Derrick: As we all know, AI is amazing at some things and less amazing at others. Finding the correct opportunities to layer AI into new and existing processes will be an ongoing project here at ReleasePoint.
For example, AI has an exceptional ability to summarize and surface content from large volumes of medical information. However, implementation is complex, models change constantly, and different use cases change the approach. As companies get more comfortable relying on AI to inform their decision process, we will be there with solutions like RP Insights designed to make reviews more efficient and accurate.
Q: What are you excited to achieve at ReleasePoint?
Derrick: ReleasePoint is the bridge between eras in medical information data retrieval. The old legacy processes are still alive and well, while technology-driven solutions are slowly emerging. Executing at a high level — on both ends of the spectrum – is critical. Our goal is to be the best in the legacy products and lead the way on the technology side.
Q: Beyond client growth, how will you measure ReleasePoint’s success?
Derrick: Consistency is the marker of our success. Our clients are writing policies, adjudicating claims, and litigating important cases. ReleasePoint powers these critical processes that enable teams to meet their goals and support the individuals waiting on decisions.
Q: Which industry is most ahead of the curve in adopting modern retrieval practices?
Legal organizations typically have more agility when adopting new technology. Fortune 500 Life and Disability carriers, on the other hand, often operate within heavier compliance and institutional frameworks. Our responsibility is to innovate continuously while meeting clients where they are — providing stability, reliability, and forward-looking solutions when the timing is right. Integration flexibility and stability are a critical part of our success story at ReleasePoint.
Q: What are you personally most excited about?
Derrick: Partnerships are key when you’re talking about data connectivity and integration. ReleasePoint is working on several high-profile integrations and engagements that will continue to push us forward throughout the year. We look forward to sharing updates on these soon.
Looking Ahead
As ReleasePoint moves deeper into 2026, Derrick’s outlook reflects both optimism and discipline.
AI will continue to accelerate change. Legacy workflows will continue to coexist. And organizations will increasingly demand partners capable of navigating both worlds without disruption.
ReleasePoint’s strategy remains clear: Deliver consistency. Drive innovation. Protect cycle time. Support better decisions.
